”A work of art is a scream of freedom.”

-Christo

Our new theme for our third issue is freedom. In art history, the color yellow was used to represent lots of different feelings but the most used meaning was to express freedom. Some might disagree, but as 9 Magazine we think that yellow means freedom, happiness, and joy. From Frida Kahlo to Fahrelnissa Zeid, there are lots of different artists who used yellow in their paintings. We believe that art is a lie that makes us realize the truth (an iconic quote from Picasso). Our new issue is about freedom and finding the truth, so we chose our 9 of our favorite yellow artworks that were used to represent freedom.

1. Gustav Klimt
2. Josef Albers
3. Devrim Erbil
4. Raphael
5. Osman Hamdi Bey
6. Frida Kahlo
7. Vincent Van Gogh
8. Fahrelnissa Zeid
Andy Warhol
9. Andy Warhol
